‘Bodyology’ ~ The Amazing 3-D Health Musical
WA Performing Arts Center, 30 Patten Rd, Westford

This multi-media, interactive stage show, endorsed by the American Academy of Pediatrics and winner of the prestigous Parent’s Choice Gold Award, will be brought to Westford Academy Performing Arts Center (WA PAC), 30 Patten Rd, Westford, on Friday, February 13, 7:00 PM.
Generously sponsored by Lowell General Hospital, Pediatrics West, PC,  JuicePlus+ and Cooking To Learn; this health & wellness show will not only entertain, but also educate families about the human body & how it functions, healthy habits, good nutrition, and physical fitness.  The show is open to the public, free and appropriate for families with children in Kindergarten – Gr 5.
Wellness posters created by 2nd and 3rd graders from Westford Public Schools will be showcased in the lobby from 6 – 7 pm as part of the ‘Bodyology Art Gallery’ followed by the family performance from 7 – 8 pm.  Organized by the Westford Elementary PTO / K-5 Enrichment Team. This project is also partially funded by a grant from the Westford Education Foundation.

Art Department News: 2009 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards
The Art department would like to recognize the following students whose artwork has been recognized in the 2009 Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards Competition. Derya Akbaba, Alice Chan, and Caitlin O’Hare earned gold key for their work. Olivia Gardner, Carolyn Meurer and Irene Yuan earned silver key. While Lizzy Britton, Emily Cacciatore, Alice Chan, Zach Richards, and Sarah Yim earned honorable mention. Mike Flannery was awarded a gold key for his senior portfolio entry.
Darien Stankowski and Ellen Haynes were nominated to begin the selection process to attend Art All State at the Worcester Art Museum in May 2009.
Examples of paintings, drawings and photography by the following students will be on display at Central Office throughout the month of March: Pete Smith, Mike Damiani, Lauren Brewer, Matt Wilkening, Alice Chan, Olivia Gardner, Lizzy Britton, Olga Hall, Ellen Haynes, Lee Goodwin, Liza Gosselin, Irene Yuan, Katelyn Porter, Noah Covell, Randi Medley, Julia McCoy, Christa McGaha, Leah Doucette, Lexie Brearley, Rachel Secrist, Christie Basinas, Adam Thomae, Colin Tinknell, Kelsey Sczylvian and Jen Raichek.
 
From the Music Department:
Congratulations to Eileen Liu and Jared Forsyth for being accepted to the Massachusetts All State Music Festival.  Eileen was chosen as first violin, third chair in the orchestra and Jared will be singing Bass in the chorus.  They will be rehearsing at Boston’s Seaport Hotel March 20-21 and the concert will be held at Symphony Hall on March 22nd.  We are proud to have them represent Westford Academy!
